Homes keep going up for tornado victims – Residents forming bonds with those building homes
Michael Bynum in front of his new house
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Michael Bynum will never forget the afternoon of June 1, when the house on Pennsylvania Avenue that he had shared with his dog literally blew away while he was inside. He vividly recalls that moment… On Tuesday, Bynum and Quincy builder Mark Giarusso looked at Bynum’s newly-arrived modular home where his home used to be before the tornado. As 22News has observed in several instances where the tornado destroyed homes, a strong bond has developed between the tornado victim and his builder. Giarrusso told 22News that helping Bynum is much more than just a job. “Just to put the pieces back, try and imagine everything wiped out, all your belongings, everything’s out of your house,” Giarrusso said. Bynam hopes to move into his home next month… he will always remember how terrible he felt when the tornado came down in his neighborhood, and how grateful he is to have survived.
